Product Description 25mm Ultra Wide-angle Powerful 12x Optical Zoom LEICA DC Lens Featuring Intelligent Resolution Technology and Built-in GPS - Ultra Compact 25mm Lens and 16X Intelligent Zoom - Easily bring your images closer without losing picture quality in an ultra compact camera
- AVCHD Lite HD Movie Recording - Record HD quality movies

25mm Ultra Wide-angle Lens The DMC-ZS7 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle* 12x optical zoom f/3.3-4.9 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens (35mm camera equivalent: 25-300mm). Incorporating Panasonic's advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of 10 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses and 2 aspherical lenses / 3 aspherical surfaces while preserving compactness. This lens system enables a remarkable 25 to 300mm range of focal length in this compact body. The powerful zoom of the DMC-ZS7 can be freely controlled even when shooting motion images. Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the LEICA ELMAR lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful images any time, any place. * Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position. The 25mm ultra wide-angle lens* has about twice the shooting area as a standard 35mm lens. This enhances all kinds of shooting situations, like when you're photographing a group of people at an indoor party or shooting a large structure or sweeping landscape while traveling. * Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position. 16x Intelligent Zoom / 23.4x Extra Optical Zoom Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the DMC-ZS7 which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. Problem w recorded image September 3, 2010 martmart I received my DMC-ZS7 just about 2 weeks ago. I had not had much chance to use it, but in the small amount of time I've had to play with it I was quite excited about it. Loved the extra zoom feature and the picture quality appeared to be quite nice. Haven't actually printed any photos yet so not sure how the quality will translate to print. Today while taking pictures I noticed a thin blue line was being included in the top center portion of the images. After trying different settings, different memory cards, etc. I found this was occuring in all photos. An email response from Panasonic suggested I reset the camera, and if that didn't work to send for repair. The reset did not work. I don't know if this is a software or a hardware issue, but now I must pay to have it shipped for a replacement. The seller only accepts returns if within 7 days. Also they require all warranty cards to be returned, so if you order any item be sure to save those cards and read all the fine print. I do like the camera and hope the replacement will provide many years of trouble-free use.Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Red)
Good but not enough for me September 3, 2010 David I wanted a view finder and a hot shoe. camera is terrific other than that.
A great camera September 2, 2010 L. Schatzer This is an amazing piece of technology. Not only does it take great pictures but the onboard GPS tags the location including not just the longitude and latitude but the actual name of the location. The 12X zoom is excellent and the image stabilization seems to work extremely well, even in video mode. The HD (720p)video looks excellent. There are tons of features and full manual control too. The intelligent auto mode works exceptionally well even with difficult lighting situations. For the most part you can just leave the camera in auto and shoot. But the are the P,A,S,M modes if you want to get more creative or are in difficult lighting situations that IA cannot deal with properly.
All of this is packed into a pocket-able device so it is perfect for vacations and family events. The most important thing however is the quality of the photos and they are very good to excellent with this camera. The 25mm wide to 300mm tele lens range is very useful, especially the wide end.
There are tons of features included with this camera so make sure to read the supplied PDF manual to get the most out of it. My only complaint is I wish there were a printed version of the full manual instead of just a PDF. Otherwise, this camera is a real winner.
Great point and shoot camera August 31, 2010 acruzjr (Illinois, USA) I have a Nikon D90 and always have a point and shoot(p&s) when I do not feel like bringing the BIG camera. After going through several Canon p&s cameras that broke on me, I decided to search my other options. I read tons of the reviews here, focusing on negatives, less on the positives. I found that people's complains and dislikes about the ZS7, did not matter to me. Thank you to those who gave this great camera the positive reviews. I ordered and have been playing with my ZS7 for more than a week now. I really like it and the pictures are much sharper than my previous p&s. I find the night shots to be OK(mostly so-so) but still much better than previous p&s. Again, that is why I have the D90 for those night shots when I want better results.
A fun "spy camera" August 31, 2010 Tennessee Grandma This camera is a lot of fun to use, especially for "older" eyesight. You can zoom in on birds, buildings, etc and see much more detail than with normal vision.
My only complaint is that the camera usage booklet needs to be downloaded and printed from your computer. Would be much nicer to actually have a little compact booklet.
